About this guide
What it covers, and how it is put together.
This Is Albania is an independent travel guide to Albania. It sells nothing, takes no bookings and represents no hotel, tour operator or rental company.
What the site covers
Nine destinations with a page each, from Tirana and Shkodër in the north to Ksamil and Butrint in the south, plus guides on the questions people actually ask before booking: how many days Albania needs, whether it is safe, how it compares with Croatia and Montenegro, how the Corfu to Sarandë ferry works, and a seven day route that ties it together.
The coverage stops there deliberately. Nine places written properly is more useful than forty written thinly, and the ones chosen are the places a first or second trip to Albania is actually built from.
How the pages are written
Every destination page follows the same structure, so you can hold two of them side by side and compare: where to stay, what the place is really for, how to get there, how long to give it, and a list of things worth knowing in advance.
Content is compiled from published tourism and transport information, operator timetables and route data, and the practical detail that official sources tend to leave out, such as which stretches of road are slow, which beaches fill by ten in the morning, and where cash is still expected. Where something is a matter of taste, the page says so rather than inventing a verdict.
Albania changes quickly. Roads that were rough are now paved, places that were quiet are not, and prices have moved. Pages carry a review date and are revised rather than left to age.
What this site is not
There is no inventory to fill. No hotel or operator has paid to appear, and no destination is placed higher because a partner sells more of it. The site is funded by affiliate commission, set out in full in the affiliate disclosure.
It is also not a booking service. Anything you book, you book with the company itself, under their terms.
Corrections
If a page is wrong, out of date, or describes a place differently from how you found it, say so. Write to hello@thisisalbania.com and it gets fixed.
